Treatment of Sciatica by Chinese acupuncture


Various problems affecting the musculoskeletal system of the back which are usually resulted in pain and stiffness. On many occasion, the conventional Medical Treatments of pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs may do little or no help to ease the signs and symptoms of those disorders. However, more people are now seeking natural therapy, such as acupuncture to help relieve painful musculoskeletal disorders, including sciatica. Acupuncture is regarded as the best alternative therapy for musculoskeletal problems in general and sciatica in particular, simply because it helps all types of pain with no side effects. This is supported by several clinical research studies which have shown that acupuncture for pain relieve can last for many months.

Low back pain and sciatica are the most common disorders of musculoskeletal system. More than 85% of UK adult population suffers from low back  pain and/or sciatica at some point in their lives. It is a problem which has financial burden on the NHS compare with other 2nd problem such as common cold infection or flue-epidemic.

Two studies recently published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, that acupuncture provided relief and lasting benefit to nearly twice as many lower back pain patients as drugs and exercise. While the second study showed that acupuncture provided definite pain relief lasted for three weeks after the end of the acupuncture sessions.
